Getting Started
From Ars Cookbook
The create a new recipe, just search for the name of the recipe that you want to add. If it's a new recipe, it'll say "There is no page titled "$foo". You can create this page. You want to click on the "create this page" link.
In an attempt to encourage a little bit of standardization, to make it easier to read every recipe, I'm writing this short guide to making articles on the cookbook.
The first thing I want to say is that I really would like to only have one "mandatory" thing in every article: Proper "tagging." That is, proper use of the [[Category:foo]] tags at the bottom of every article. If we can all remember to do that, it'll make searching for certain kinds of dishes so much easier. I will try to keep the main page updated with all the current categories.
Beyond that, write your recipes however you want.
If you want to make your article use the same organization that I've used on all the initial recipes, here's my suggested format (for a full list of wiki code, use the Help:Editing page):
-top of the article- Submitted by $yournick General comments about the dish, if you want. == Ingredients == *item1 *item2 *item3 notes about ingredients. == Preparation == (if necessary) #step1 #step2 #step3 == Directions == #step1 #step2 #step3 Final notes, etc, etc. [[Category:$type_of_dish]] [[Category:$food_ethnicity]] [[Category:$main_ingredient(s)]]
That's just a basic format which will make everything look the same. Add pictures if you want, add extra stuff if you want, etc.
