Meatloaf
From Ars Cookbook

This recipe is very similar to the Baked Ziti, in how spices are added.
but first, the basics.
Take one egg, beaten. Add some milk, and tear up two pieces of bread (sandwich bread style, or equivalent). Add enough milk to make it a goopy mess. Dump in some ground beef. I like to use the 80% lean stuff, about 1.5 pounds worth.
Then spices. Add it all. It's all good.
Spices
- salt
- black pepper
- cayenne pepper
- cumin
- oregano
- garlic powder
- paprika
- basil
- parsley
- thyme
- rosemary
- (I don't have sage, but you could add it if you want)
- Worcestershire sauce
- ketchup
- onion
You get the idea.
Mix it all up, with your fingers, or a fork, whatever. Then dump it into a loaf pan. Form it into a loaf shape, then squirt a bunch of ketchup on top. This is the yummy coating.
Bake in a 375 degree oven (or somewhere around there) for about an hour or so, or until it's done. If you bake it uncovered, then you'll have a crispier crust, cover with aluminum foil if you don't like it that way.
Serve with rice, serve with pasta, eat as a sandwich the next day on some crusty bread. It's good no matter what!
