Steak Sandwich

Quick, simple, steak sandwich. Quality of ingredients matters more than how you make it.

Ingredients

  • One large rump steak
  • Ciabatta bread to cover steak
  • Maille Dijon mustard
  • ripe tomato

Obviously steak quality matters here as does your skill with the grill.

Directions

  1. Slice ciabatta horizontally.
  2. Paint cut surface with olive oil, gently toast both sides.
  3. Slice tomato thinly
  4. Cook steak as you like it, but if you don't see some blood when you cut it then you cooked it too long!
  5. Place steak on bread
  6. Spread with plenty of Dijon mustard
  7. Spread sliced tomato over - close sandwich with top of bread

Variations

  1. Caramelized onions instead of tomato
  2. Horseradish, if you can get the real stuff
  3. Rocket or other greens
